My life is defined by my electronic devices...

It's all very good that all the essential electronic devices I use break down on me. All in the single month (give or take). So say hello to the replacements.

Acer Aspire. Not exactly the sexiest looking thing around but functionality over aesthetics. I need to run my VSTis and I need to run a lotta them at a go.

Creative Zen. I was informed to get this over an Apple iPod. In terms of value, this is cheaper definitely and I need the storage space. However, all the mp3s need to be tagged before they can be read by the Zen. So guess where do I tag my mp3s?

i-Tunes. Yeah, the fucken irony of it all...

HTC Touch Dual. I think my colleagues use this one better than I do! Still getting used to it. I might not have your numbers yet as I've MANUALLY transferring the numbers into this new phone. Will take some time.

Unfortunately, I just realised my Electro-Harmonix Small Clone has broken down on me earlier this year. Please get me a replacement if you can.

M-Audio Axiom-61. After Bryan, Weiyuan and I (yeah, it took 3 of us and 2 hours to cover all the parts) recorded the 'Radio Station' cover a few days back, it's no looking back. Seriously, why would anyone want a 25-key MIDI controller? Or for that matter-of-fact, even a 49-key one?

Okay, a Mini Moog and Micro Korg is different. But we are talking MIDI controllers here. Check out that baby on top. I salivate looking at that picture. That picture of the MIDI controller and the H.A.I.R. of the month. Oooohhh, nice...

Spanking The Monkey One Last Time so that we can start Choking The Chicken

Monkey Chicken

Weiyuan who slutted his way into Bryan and Yeeyong's sound-art project tb.fk.as so he will be performing this Saturday as the newest member of the "geng". They are up against Darren (aka Sonicbrat). So that should be quite interesting. Nat will be guesting with WYMXX which is Terence and his laptop running some plug-ins with nekkid women as the display graphics. No, I'm not shitting you. Ask him. Apparently, Nat is going to play the accordian. No, once again, I'm not shitting you.

Come 17 May, Adam and his peeps from You And Whose Army? will be performing with their side project Indus Gendi. Kinho's Breakbeat Theory will be doing their live drum'n'bass schtick. Not sure if Dougall will be bringing his home-made synth though. Haykal will be going at it solo this time round. I'm not too sure what he'd be doing but knowing him, it'd be probably something weird. Dakai and Iliyas of Documentary In Amber will be performing with Hakim as D+A+K+A+I (Dakai and (Ha)Kim and Iliyas). I love the name. Pure genius.

Come down if you are free. This would probably be our last show for a long time.

Kanye & Li Wei

Was going through Kanye West's (You rock, dude!) blog and found this series of photos. Apparently, a Chinese artist by the name of Li Wei took them. Trippy shit.

This is Li Wei's official site.

Telebury

One of my favourite Malaysian bands. I had the good fortune to work with them on 2 separate occasions. I just found out that they have a new song on their MySpace page here from Adlin's blog. Well, Adlin used to play in Telebury for a while. Then again, he went through half the KL scene. Quite the band slut, he is.

Weiyuan and Billy love Telebury to bits, especially 'Godspeed Your Love' which is really great...

I AM IRON MAN!!!

Next Wednesday!!! Woo hooo!!!!

Portishead in Portishead

One of my all-time favourite bands Portishead (One of my guitar heroes Adrian Utley and favourite drummers Clive Deemer play in the band) performs in the town of Portishead. The new album is coming out soon. I've already gotten it... somehow... ahem. But I will be buying it anyway. Still not feeling it though.

The Lard Brothers part 12

Ian popped by yesterday to lay down a bassline for 'Radio Station'. We just need to retrack the piano bits and we are done... Almost in the bag.

Stubborn Snails

Ann just started a new online company with Noel: Stubborn Snails.

Doing diaper cakes. What's that? Check out the website.

Propellerheads (featuring Shirley Bassey) - History Repeating

From the only one full-length they've ever released: Decksandrumsandrockandroll. Love it! The big beat duo with the penchant for spy movie soundtracks.

Paul Anka - Smells Like Teen Spirit (live)

Kinho sent me this video. We call it research for an upcoming cover. Here's his cover of REM's 'Everybody Hurts' and Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun'.

The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build A Home (live)

Kick ass song from a kick ass album. I rikes. A lot.

Marry me, Leslie!

Vivian just sent me the link to Leslie Low's revamped website, designed by the man himself and Sean of Concave Scream. Pretty psychedelic. She calls it "a website for patient people".

It features an audio commentary track with him talking about his work. Very nice. And they were kind enough to link us too! Hurhur...

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love

Was talking to Irman of KLPHQ after Adlin informed me that I should check out more of Irman's 'Wild Parties' series in KL. Irman was telling me that they play a variety of hip-hop stuff, 60's pop and ALWAYS Britney. That rocks.

And they throw down some Roxette here and there. That's a name I've not heard for years... If you were growing up in the late 80's and early 90's, it's definitely a band which you have heard and probably liked for a while.

I don't know if they were still around. But hey, that's what Wikipedia is for. Anyway, it took me some time to choose my favourite song. Here you go.

Gingerbread

Adlin and his missus Ayu are spending time in baking stuff to sell. Some of the stuff looks damn cute.

Yeah, that's the gingerbread version of them. Hilarious.

And baking. Yeah, it's a good retirement plan for a rocker...

The Smoking Gun

Joe sent me a link. Apparently, "rapper" Akon is a fraud, in terms of boasting about his previous criminal activities.

Willy just got his new laptop! Time to bust da moves yo! says:
tt's how we hip-hoppers do it yo!
Koffkoff says:
lol
Koffkoff says:
all the fake shows lol
Koffkoff says:
do something like

"lard brothers were arrested for trafficking pork luncheon meat from china when it was temporarily banned in singapore"

Korean drummer

Got this from Benita. The drummer is damn emo! Hilarious!

Sleeveface

Got it off Joe. Great stuff.

The Lard Brothers part 11

Joe Foo aka Koff Koff recorded The Love Experiment (vocals and drums) for the For Good compilation track 'Orbit Around Me' 2 years ago. He's a pretty cool guy and an amazing singer. He does "brutal folk" or at least, that's what Bret, owner of metal label Mourning Sounds Records calls it.

Joe is the 4th singer on The Lard Brothers' cover of The Padres' classic anthem 'Radio Station'. I'm sure he'll kick ass. I'll love to hear how he sounds! Thanks, dude!

The Take-away Shows

The Divine Comedy - Lady Of A Certain Age

Got this off Nat's blog. There's this French music/ video blog which goes around asking bands perform on streets and all. REM appears on it too. Pretty nifty concept.

The Divine Comedy is one of my favourite acts. Neil Hannon is our generation's Scott Walker. Not that he's able to top the original but he's his own man as well.

Baby

Noel and Ann became parents for the first time. Drayden Rhys-Cruz Boyd popped out yesterday about 3+am. Yeah, just about the time when Uncle Willy finished drinking. Don't worry, kiddo. Uncle Willy is coming to visit you on Tueday... with shitloads of Pampers so that you can shit all you want!

Ahem...

The Lard Brothers part 10

Haykal came by today and sang on the Lard Brothers' cover of Humpback Oak's 'Circling Square'. It sounds really great. I'm just relieved that we are a step closer to completing the album! Probably, we will get Iliyas to do a post-rock-meets-hip-hop bassline for it.

Robin re-tracked his bassline for 'Plainsunset' as well. Hopefully, we can track some vocals for this in the coming week as well!

The Stormriders 2

Billy sent me the link. Concept art and all. Nice.

M83 - Graveyard Girl

The new album Saturdays = Youth comes out next Monday. I like the previous one which he did the ambient stuff. Nice.

Dentist

Just came back from the dentist.

Damn hardcore. My gums were bleeding. Apparently, it's all these years of tartar build-up and bad oral hygiene. And it cost me $140! WTF?!

I'll post a pic of myself at the dentist later.

Behind The Scenes: The Incredible Hulk

I'm still not impressed leh... Check this out.

FUBAR... part 9

My gums are receding and bleeding a lot these days.

When I brushed my teeth, they bleed. When I sit here typing this blog post, they muthafucken bleed. This happened to Roy last year. His dentist told him to carry on brushing his teeth and gums hard. After a while, it will stop. Apparently, it's a combination of drinking, smoking, lack of sleep and stress. I'm not sure about the last bit though. Then again, we were quite panicky over the B-Quartet launch. Hmm...

Fucken hell, it's been going on for almost 2 months anyway. My mouth tastes like raw cockles every once in 2 hours when the gums start bleeding.

Fuck!

Laptop

Anyone has any suggestions on what I should be getting? The budget is around $1,600 - 1,800. My specs required is at least 2GB RAM and a processing speed of close to 2GB. I've an external hard disk of 500MB so storage is not an issue. So is weight.

No Macs please. For obvious reasons...

I've been looking around for one. Have not placed my bet on one yet. I'm trying to turn this baby into for purely doing music... okay, and the occasional late night DVDs. My hands are damn itchy now... As in really itchy!!!

The Making Of Flight Of Transcendence

I love it when they (Zero Sequence) are so over-the-top! I didn't know Reuel could moonwalk... The scene is hilarious!

Most of us were talking to blank air while recording the documentary. It showcases their thoughts about the album and Weiyuan acting all serious in it. Hahaha...

The album is already out in all good record stores (Gramophone, Sembawang Music Centre, EarShot, etc.). I'm sure that more stores will retail the album within the next 2 weeks.

Abba - Dancing Queeen

Abba rocks. Period.

Boston Dynamics Big Dog

Koff Koff sent me this video. In my mind, while I was watching this, I kept thinking "Fuck! The days of the Terminator is upon us soon!!!"

Meat Loaf - I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)

Nat and I were talking on MSN about dubious music tastes. Then it popped into my mind that I used to be a huge Mariah Carey and Meat Loaf fan when I was a wee 15 year old lad. Y'know, the pre-grunge days. Yeah, I was a late bloomer.

The only thing worse than Meat Loaf's music videos is his song titles. Hilarious stuff!

I'd like to take this opportunity to dedicate this song to my music-loving friends: Edwin, Billy, Weiyuan, Yeeyong, Benita, Grace, Nat, Keishi, Bryan, Hui Hsien, Pamela, Alvin, Terence, etc. If I've left you out, sorry... I still love you like Meat Loaf does. Remember: "Stay kewl and fun-kay always!!!"

Susanna And The Magical Orchestra - Love Will Tear Us Apart

Found this on Fuzz's blog.

IF/ Life Without Dreams

Fuzz's band IF has a track up on their MySpace page. Quite classic Brit-rock stuff.

His other act with DIA's Daniel, Life Without Dreams has a new track up on their MySpace page as well.

Hearing your friends play music makes me itch to get that new laptop ASAP!!! We are currently scheduling peeps to come in to do the Humpback Oak and Plainsunset covers for The Lard Brothers. Hopefully, that shit gets done soon... cuz we are still dragging our asses for The Love Experiment stuff. No one really gives a shit but hey, they are all vanity projects anyway...

Mekuri Master

Nat sent me this link to a Flash-based game to play if I were bored at work. Thanks, sweetheart, for thinking of me, especially for this kinda not-safe-for-work kinda games! -_-"

How not to make bread...

Got it from Kinho. Hilarious!

You love us!!!

We have revamped our Aging Youth website yet again! Check it out here! This revamp came about as we are changing our focus this year to concentrate on the indie music label arm. Wooooo, I love the use of the word 'arm'. Makes us sound bigger than we actually are. Hehehe...

Do let us know how we can improve on the site and give me some reasons so that I can 'goreng' Weiyuan's ass about it! Ha!
